In limbo, always in limbo. It is the joy of limbo without presupposing heaven or hell.
Skilful means: you cannot treat everyone equally well by treating everyone the same way. “Skilful” means you don’t.
There are those who know practice must be fuelled by compassion. Yet this “must” becomes moralistic, leading them to purchase a gallon or two of compassion at a time, enough to keep their engines running a while longer. The point is to drill down deeper, deeper into the ground, until the oil gushes forth.
