Integral Medicine Buddha: Draft of an Initial Protocol

  1. Gather all possible healing processes into a single drop of universal healing energy. In order to qualify as universal healing energy, it must address every single possible type of dysfunction in any realm with equal success. This requires cognitive training and the ability to reframe all healing-related energetic interactions as the manifestation of a single energetic causal factor, understood as an evolutionary emergent. Healing energy is to be seen as a new type of energy, which awakens itself to itself for the sake of its own realisation, and which manifests differently depending on the altitude of the one interacting with it. Observe the traditionally documented wisdom energies in Vajrayana Buddhism with the intention of extrapolating from their interactions some principle, however initially nebulous, by which their interactions could be interpreted as the activity of a single energy called healing energy. The energy itself is transparent, translucent and of no particular colour, and when focused upon it immediately induces a greater lucidity and luminosity in the field of experience. It must be recognised as having its own evolving intelligence.
  2. Learn to duplicate the drop of universal healing energy as many times as desired. You should at least be able to place a drop in each of the chakra points and feel the drops working directly on the chakras. Take a holonic view of the chakras: The first chakra is transcended and included by the second chakra, which is transcended and included by the third chakra, which is transcended and included by the fourth chakra, etc. This means the activity of the drop of universal healing energy in the crown chakra transcends and includes the activity of every drop in every chakra point below it.
  3. As a formal practice, create two drops of universal healing energy, and witness their inter-objective interactions. Do not impose patterns upon the interaction of the two drops; only discern patterns through direct contemplation. Remember to see these interactions between drops of universal healing energy as manifestations of an energy that is evolving, becoming more self-conscious and therefore more powerful over time.
  4. Repeat the process, this time working with three drops. Continue adding drops at a gradual pace and discern the principles by which the drops appear to be interacting with each other. Yin and Yang are helpful categories here. Nothing short of a teal articulation of these principles will do.
  5. As a separate formal practice, intentionally interact with the drops of universal healing energy, and practice applying this energy to your own subtle body and gross body separately and then simultaneously. Once this is mastered, practice on a volunteer. You are not a healer unless you can heal someone.
  6. Train yourself to see the skill of generating and manipulating universal healing energy as a specific line of development, from infrared to white. Call this the healing line of development. It means the deliberate cultivation and divinisation of the body’s innate healing intelligence and a fearless exploration of your specific supramental healing capacities, as determined by the causal factors behind your super-particularity, as far up the evolutionary ladder as possible, in service to all beings.
  7. Cultivate the healing line of development to the fullest extent possible, along three equally-important vectors: as a self-authoring process of gradually more inclusive ego- and state-identification with the Medicine Buddha as your own highest potential (1st-person); as a Bhakti practice of devotional service to the Medicine Buddha with whom you form a personal and ever-intensifying relationship (2nd-person); and as an increasingly self-conscious, self-optimising, self-sustaining process of self-organising self-transcendence as objectively existing healing energy (3rd-person).
  8. Entering deeply into samadhi, practice abiding as the single drop of universal healing energy. The single indivisible sphere of dharmadhatu, Wilber’s “Total Painting of All That Is,” is felt in the heart centre as the one original drop of universal healing energy, like a dewdrop on the lotus of the heart chakra. This is the main formal practice and must be done diligently, always starting from Bodhicitta. Bodhicitta must be forged into healing energy, and there is no healing energy without Bodhicitta.
  9. Privately aim for the miraculous, and remain as infophilic and trusting as possible when the highest descends into the lowest in your being. Expect the nature of the samboghakaya aspect of your private experience to take on an increasingly somatic, healing-related synchronistic character. Remember that heartfelt bodhisattvic aspiration opens up the infinite nirmanakayas, so prepare for your explorations to take you into completely uncharted territory. It is insane to resent anyone for not supporting you as you delve into the laboratory of your own mindstream in the role of medicinal psychonaut, especially if you are worthy of a realistic chance of helping people who cannot help themselves in their insanity.
  10. Once you have developed mastery in this practice, do not share your system with anyone until you are in perfect health. If the Good, the True and the Beautiful are all to factor into the unfolding of the healing line of development, which they must in order for the practice to be authentic, your physical body must demonstrate exceptional vitality, fitness and wellbeing. Prove it so well you won’t have to explain. It is always more important to heal someone than to explain to them how you are healing them, but you should be able to do both, while never needing to do anything but heal them for the full effect to take place.
  11. Don’t become arrogant. Don’t monetise whatever you discover. Don’t refuse to heal anyone.
