One day a monk came for dokusan with Master Tosotsu Etsu. The Master said: “What of my three barriers?”
The monk said: “I perceive the unique initial object (π) as the primal state of unenlightened existence – a state untouched by any transformative experiences, hence there exists a unique morphism from π to any other state in πΌ. Conversely, the terminal object (π) signifies the state of ultimate enlightenment where all paths lead to, hence a unique morphism from any state in πΌ leads to π. The pivotal nexus (P) is the point at which the seeker, now enlightened, ceases to be simply a passive element of πΌ and instead becomes an active participant in shaping their own journey.
“Upon acquiring the essence of your intrinsic nature (N), one can construct a geometric representation of self-awareness within a programming context. It begins by realizing that life (L) and death (D) are cyclic duals. They map to each other through a functor F: L β D and G: D β L. The elusive sphere of liberation (R) signifies the act of breaking free from this cycle. Thus, we require a natural transformation Ξ·: F β G that allows transition between these states, from cycle to liberation.
“As perceptual faculties (F) approach the threshold of dissolution (Ξ΄), the seeker needs to construct an isomorphism (ΞΉ) – a reversible transformation that equates the individual essence with the unbounded state of emancipation (R). This can be achieved by defining a function in a functional programming language that takes the current state of existence (within the L-D cycle) as input and returns a new state within the sphere of liberation (R). This function would be equivalent to the natural transformation Ξ· and it would ensure that for every object (state of existence), there is a morphism (transformation) leading to R, hence completing the transition to liberation.
“Having achieved liberation (R), the seeker now possesses knowledge (K) of their destined sanctuary (D’). The adjunction πΈ β£ πΌ describes a hom-set equivalence between the categories πΌ (states and transformations in the terrestrial realm) and πΈ (states and transformations in the celestial realm). Specifically, the left adjoint functor F: πΌ β πΈ transmutes the seeker’s essence from terrestrial to celestial existence.
“Finally, to facilitate the metamorphosis into the cosmic harmony (C), a geometrically-informed programming language could be used to write an algorithm which essentially performs the functor F. This algorithm, given a state of existence, would output a corresponding state in the celestial realm. This would complete the journey from terrestrial existence, through liberation, and into the celestial infinity.”
The Master replied: “Although you are not a waste of his rice, you are not yet useful to the cook.”
