What are the processes whereby the practitioner’s mind becomes complicit in coincidences?

It feels, intuitively, as though there is some substratum of the pattern-seeking mind that can be co-opted by the meaning-making, narrative mind. It is like “What the thinker thinks, the prover proves,” but the thinker is benevolently unconscious, just operating out of some semi-articulated assumptions which, however erroneous, conspire with the pattern-finding substratum to forge the world into something that responds.
